On January 26th, Councilmember Jamie Gauthier (3rd District) teamed up with Southwest CDC, the City Office of Property Assessment, and the City Department of Revenue to host a real estate tax workshop. At the workshop, Southwest Philadelphians received in-person help enrolling in tax saving programs like the Homestead Exemption and Senior Tax Freeze. Residents also had the opportunity to walk through their new property assessment and talk to Councilmember Gauthier about issues that matter to them.

Councilmember Jamie Gauthier prioritizes bringing city services, such as tax relief, into underserved communities. She understands that government programs are sometimes hard to navigate and that enrolling in them can be a challenge — especially for elderly and disabled residents. That’s why she and her constituent services team have spent the last six months crisscrossing West and Southwest helping hundreds of constituents navigate the property evaluation process, appeal their assessment, and enroll in tax relief programs.

“I will continue to do everything I can to help my Southwest neighbors remain in their homes,” Councilmember Jamie Gauthier said. “I am proud of my efforts to connect homeowners with property tax relief and thanks to City Council’s ‘Save Our Homes’ legislation, which I proudly cosponsored, there has never been more money available.”

Councilmember Jamie Gauthier will host another real estate tax workshop on Saturday, February 11th at the Temple of Christ Church from 10am to 12pm. There will also be workshops on Thursday February 16th from 10am to 12pm at 814 N. 41st Street and on Saturday, March 18th from 10am to 12pm at the Transfiguration Baptist Church. Anyone is welcome to attend. 3rd District residents may also receive help from Councilmember Gauthier’s constituent services team and get more information on upcoming workshops by calling 215-686-0460 during business hours.
